Best Jeffree Star Cosmetics Lipstick?

September 11, 2016

Hello guys! I'm going to blog about one of my favourite products again but this time I'm listing them from worst to best from the ones that I own from the collection. I am missing a few which I will list now:
I'm Nude
Mannequin
Posh Spice
Dominatrix
Dirty Money
Blue Velvet
Queen Supreme
Anna Nicole
I'm Royalty
Weirdo
Drug Lord
Hoe Hoe Hoe
Mistletoe

(20) Virginity: Oh my goodness, I absolutely hate this colour on me and to be honest I think it's the worst shade he has released. The formula is so patchy and takes more than two layers to get full opacity. I wasn't a huge fan of the summer collection at first because all of the formulas (give or take a few) were runny and inconsistent; a flaw that Jeffree Star did point out would disappear if you were to put the lipsticks in the fridge. This did work for all but this one and I'm sorry to anyone who actually likes this lipstick but besides the gorgeous watermelon scent, this one is a definite miss.

(19) 714: Why this shade was ever brought back, I'm not sure. The colour itself is actually gorgeous but again the formula isn't consistent at all and if I eat, it comes straight off. It's absolutely beautiful when using it for eyeliner but overall it's another miss. Please note if buying this product that even Jeffree has said in his Summer collection video that this shade is extremely hard to make and was only brought back because the fans wanted it but it isn't the most opaque shade and I would avoid buying it if I had the chance to go back.

(18) Celebrity Skin: This shade is a cult favourite but not with me. This shade does not suit me at all and is really boring for someone who loves bright colours. The formula I was told, has changed and isn't the same colour as pictured and as I got the new batch, it's completely different. It's much paler and in my opinion, looks more like mannequin. I love the look of the old Celebrity Skin still, it's beautiful and looks like Gemini but I think an updated photo should be provided on the website. Perks of this shade is that it lasts all day and only takes one layer of product to apply.
Check out swatches of the old version vs new here.

(17) Rich Blood: This shade is marmite to me. I think it's such a beautiful shade but it just doesn't dry. It is again pointed out by Jeffree that due to the glitter pigmentation in the lipstick, it takes longer to dry but honestly, it just doesn't at all. The idea is to rub your lips with your fingertip when dry to activate the glitter but it just takes off the product when you do so. I think if you have money aside and want a deep blood red then this is the shade for you but honestly, I'd wait for a restock and buy Redrum.

(16) Jawbreaker: Honestly, I am yet to wear this shade out the house. I feel like it's blended Smurf on my lips and it makes me feel a bit uneasy. The formula is long lasting and doesn't transfer, however it's extremely runny and is the same as Unicorn Blood, which I have explained further down this list. Let's just say, application is difficult and is a little streaky but overall, I still think this shade is great for eyeliner but I'm still not 100% about Jawbreaker. I bought this shade from Beautybay who have just started stocking the Velour liquid lipsticks so go and check them out!

(15) Queen Bee: This shade is phenomenal let's just point out; The formula is completely different to the rest, it's thick, and dries very fast so to work with it is very difficult but my goodness is it worth it. The reason this shade is low on my list is because it's just not wearable for someone who works full time in retail. I would absolutely love to rock this shade everywhere but it's just not doable for me. If I'm going on a night out, I prefer to apply this shade to my waterline than my lips. But again, for individuality, I'd definitely go for this shade. I was so excited when it was released as I'd never seen anything like it and if I hadn't got the summer bundle, this would have still been bought anyway.

(14) Scorpio: This is one of my favourite shades. I love it so much; the colour is perfect for someone like me who wears grey and purple lipstick anyway. But this has tons of flaws which is why it's not high on my list. This breaks my heart to put it where it is but it just doesn't stay on for long. One drink and it's gone so don't expect it to last for food. I'm so heartbroken and I will still buy another one when I'm finished with my own to see if I just got a dud. It's such a shame as I would wear this shade everyday but I get fed up of reapplying this shade constantly. If I'm on a night out, I look ridiculous as it's fading after an hour. Buy this shade if you know you'd suit it, otherwise give it a miss. I will update when I buy another on a future restock because it is beautiful but if it's anything like the experience I've had, save your money.

(13) Watermelon Soda: This shade is gorgeous, it's smells lovely and looks beautiful. However, it's not that longwearing compared to other shades and it looks very neon. It's beautiful as a summer shade but I cannot imagine me wearing it in the colder months. It's not the first shade I'd recommend going as I can't imagine it looking good on everyone. But if you rock neon shades or want a more vibrant approach to your make-up then go for it! This is part of the Summer collection and I'm unsure how much longer it'll be available as it's been listed as limited edition so if you want this colour, now is your chance to get it.

(12) Rose Matter: This shade is perfect for everyday wear; it's cute, peachy and get's tons of compliments. It isn't my favourite but I feel it would be difficult to get dupes from most other brands and I recommend it hugely for it's long lasting formula. It's a shade where you can eat and drink throughout the day with little top up and when this shade returns, I without a doubt would urge you to buy. The only shade I have found which is remotely close is Lime Crime's velvetine in 'Cupid' but the quality is poor compared to Rose Matter so please note that paying a few £ more is totally worth it! If you're obsessed with pink nude tones, this one is a must for your lipstick collection.

(11) Prom Night: I only managed to get this shade about two days ago and oh my goodness, it's so bright and colourful. It's neon shade makes it ideal for nights out and is definitely a head turner but for all the right reasons. This shade I feel, wouldn't look great on everyone and I know lots of people would feel uncomfortable wearing a shade this bright as they feel like it may be a bit overpowering. But if you are brave and daring, this shade is a must for you. If you liked Miley Cyrus' MAC Viva campaign colours, this is almost a dupe for the first shade she released which is why I have tried for so long to get this. This was also the last colour I have managed to get from Cocktail Cosmetics as they are discontinuing stock of Jeffree Star's products.

(10) Nude Beach: I absolutely hated this shade when it was announced, it looked horrific on and when I finally got the summer bundle box set this was the one I was likely to sell, how wrong was I? I absolutely adore a shade by Lime Crime called Squash but it comes off so easily because the formula isn't the best. I had no idea that this shade would be so similar. It's formula is beautiful and one of the best from the summer collection, It's summery but would also look good as an ombre lip in the fall. It's absolutely stunning and gets a ton of compliments and it's one I can get away with at work too. Overall, it's one of the most long lasting colours from the velour liquid lip collection and I'm sad it's limited edition. If you want a orange nude (and lets face it it should be in your collection) then pick this one up quick.

(9) Unicorn Blood: The reason this colour is so high up on my list is because the colour is phenomenal, it's a cult favourite and was one of the first colours I saw that made me want to start collecting these lipsticks. It's an all year round colour and looks good on every skin tone. The formula however to me is the downfall of this shade. It's so runny and for someone with a small top lip (like myself) it's hard to apply using the applicator without me overlining or smudging whilst trying to neaten it. But fear not because this shade is another long wearing beauty. It stays on whilst eating and I wore it all day at Leeds festival with no patching or removal in the centre (considering how much I was singing along, eating and drinking!) This shade honestly deserves the highest praise and although dark shades have put me off from other brands *cough* LA Splash, Too Faced, Milani *cough* this is genuinely one of the best lipsticks I've ever owned.

(8) Redrum: The best red you'll ever have in your make-up collection has to be this one; it's gorgeous and long lasting and I have nothing bad to say when it comes to this shade. Honestly, the formula is fantastic, it doesn't transfer, it lasts when eating and you can wear it anywhere for any occasion. I use it sometimes as an eyeliner and again I get tons of compliments from this shade. I know red is available from any brand but if you want to get the most from your money and want a beautiful long wearing shade, here it is.

Image result for abused lipstick

(7) Abused: This was the first shade I ever purchased after debating for quite a while on which one would suit me the best. I didn't really know what to expect and upon arrival, I fell instantly in love. The packaging was a lovely blue colour, different to the regular pink you get with the rest and it has the gorgeous root beer scent too. It looks like pen ink which is the best way to describe the colour and I have noticed how hard purple colours are to perfect but with the mix of blue in this shade, it has made it completely opaque and is absolutely flawless in one coat. I adore this shade even with all of its controversy and I hope that it is restocked soon because everyone needs this in their make-up collection so I'm praying it is restocked for halloween.

Image result for blow pony lipstick

(6) Blow Pony: This is my favourite lipstick from this line by far and I couldn't recommend this shade higher if I tried. Blow Pony is a gorgeous light purple shade which I can't get enough of. It suits so many people and for someone who adores bright shades, this should be on everyone's lips. For the shade that it is, I'm extremely surprised at how long lasting it is; it does transfer onto cups that is a given but it lasts whilst eating with little wear. I honestly didn't like this shade at all when I first saw it on the website and it wasn't until I went into Cocktail Cosmetics that I swatched this shade and fell in love. Although I didn't buy this shade the first time I went in, it was on my mind all through till next payday when I went to the store again and it was luckily still in stock. I wear this shade at the weekend as it's the only time I can wear it but if work would let me, I would have to re-buy this shade often as it would be constantly on my lips.

Image result for androgyny lipstick

(5) Androgyny: This shade is the queen of liquid lipsticks. This shade sold out in about three minutes the first five times it was released on the website. I was extremely lucky to have my boyfriend on his lunch break at the time to get this shade and masochist (which was released at the same time). This shade is the strangest out of all of the velour liquid lipsticks for the fact that it honestly looks different on every single person. On me it looks almost purple, on my friends it looks brown, on my mum it looks red. It's a shade that absolutely anyone can pull off and to me is the most unique. I did buy the shade Teddy Bear from Lime Crime (Melanie Martinez's created shade) which is identical to Androgyny but let's be honest, the formula of Teddy Bear is no match for Jeffree's.

(4) Breakfast at Tiffany's: I went in to Cocktail Cosmetics for the first time a few months ago. We travelled there because I really wanted Jeffree Star's skin frosts and didn't want to buy from America as they are delicate and was scared mine would break. Upon arrival, I grabbed the skin frost (shade: Peach Goddess) and looked down and saw this beauty. This was the last one in a beautiful blue box which was the same Abused and Jawbreaker had. I hadn't seen this shade on his website until about a week ago so I obviously assumed at the time that he wouldn't release it again. This shade is every wannabe mermaid's wet dream. This shade is long wearing and doesn't transfer at all. I love wearing this shade and I alternate between this and Blow Pony at the weekend. Another shade that brings in the compliments, this shade is ideal for bright eyeliner, lip art and for times where you want to be a bit crazy. I love this shade and have never seen one like it from another brand until recently but again for the best formula, it's Jeffree Star's all the way.

Image result for gemini lipstick

(3) Gemini: The perfect shade is hard to get dupes for, the closest for this one being Colour Pop's echo park or Kylie Jenner's Candy K but when this shade sells out in under 20 minutes, you know that Gemini is going to be a popular cult favourite. Root beer scented, this shade it the perfect everyday nude with a difference. It's another popular one amongst friends for it's long wearing non transfer formula. This and Doll Parts take the most effort to remove as they almost stick to your lips but in the best way. It doesn't fade, it's absolutely stunning and just narrowly missed the top spot. Exclusively available to Jeffree's website, this is a shade to watch out for.

(2) Doll Parts: This was originally a Christmas shade but due to the huge hype surrounding it, it was re-released without the exclusive white packaging a few months later. I did pick mine up after Christmas with the regular pink packaging which makes no difference to me, I'm just thankful to have this gem in my collection. This shade is adorable, I love teaming this with subtle warm browns and golds on the lids and letting this lipstick do all the work. It's a pretty plain pink shade to a lot of people but I personally love it and feel very girly and gorgeous with it on. It's another favourite amongst fans for all the right reasons and is beautiful for every skin tone. The reason for it being placed in second is because I feel like a lot of shades on this list may not suit everyone but this is absolutely perfect. I personally can't find a shade that is identical to it besides Kat Von D's Everlasting liquid lipstick in Mother but I'd rather go for Doll Parts anyday.

Image result for masochist lipstick

(1) Masochist: My favourite shade comes as a shock to me as much as it might do to everyone else. I have narrowed it down as hard as it was and came to a conclusion that this one deserved to be crowned as number one. It's a beautiful raspberry shade which no other compares to. This is a shade I have always wanted but never been able to find as a liquid lipstick. I never used to be a fan of lipsticks as I just never thought they looked right, then I came across a shade called Magnetism by Illumasqua which completely changed my whole thoughts about lipstick. It was almost identical to Masochist and complements my skin tone and eye colour so nicely. Alas Magnetism was discontinued so Masochist is a shade I'm hoping never leaves Jeffree's collection. I think this shade just looks so good on everyone and I'm not sure if it's because it reminds me of getting my first lipstick but damn, Masochist is a must have for everyone.

Photos are all from Jeffree Star's website.
Prices for the Lipsticks:
BeautyBay: £16
JeffreeStarCosmetics: $18
Beautylish: $18

All of my lipsticks have been bought from all of the above and Cocktail Cosmetics. I personally recommend buying from Beautylish if you are from the UK as duties and taxes are included before you pay. I have never had a problem buying from any of the websites and although Beautybay doesn't have many colours in stock, they have free 48 hour postage to the UK.

I hope this helps!
